Hello, I’m Karen...

I love the art of healing and it is the intent I carry through all of my work. I have an innate curiosity about the workings of the human body and consciousness, forming the basis of a lifetime of exploration, and now teaching.

In addition to being well trained in coaching and yoga therapy (I began practicing yoga in 1983, and teaching in 2003), I have spent decades studying and mentoring with many wonderful teachers of various traditions from Qigong, energy healing, bodywork, breathwork, functional medicine, somatics, shamanic medicine training, cross cultural studies, self-inquiry, and more.

In the late1990's, with my mother Shirley, I taught The Invisible Ball, a Qigong program for children in public schools. In 2003, I began teaching therapeutic yoga classes and private yoga therapy sessions, including classes in bone health, back care, stress reduction, women’s health, and balance. Today I teach Seniors in Balance classes for seniors, offer workshops, and work with individuals one-on-one in coaching, energy healing, mindful movement, balance training, and personal transformation.

I believe we all have answers within. My mission as a teacher and coach is to listen with presence, and help my clients create the connection and conditions for self-healing, transformation.

What is Yoga Therapy and Qigong?

Yoga therapy is the professional application of classical yoga to address specific health challenges or imbalances, while connecting with and awakening to our essence.

I often blend the practices and philosophies of yoga with other healing traditions such as qigong, somatics, pilates, breathwork, self-inquiry, and mindfulness meditation depending on the specific needs of my client or group - what brings for them a greater sense of vitality, connection, relaxation, self-awareness and joy.

Qigong is an ancient practice from China (Tai Chi is a martial arts form of Qigong) involving slow flowing movement, while balancing channels of energy in the body. Like yoga, practices in Qigong are meant to foster strength, vitality, healing, and balance in body and mind.

What is Functional Medicine Health Coaching?

Functional Medicine Health Coaching emphasizes the deeper roots underlying one's health. The focus is on both the interconnectedness of body systems, as well as each individuals unique constellation of physiology, circumstance, experience, and needs.

Always coaching is about connection, and the process of transformation. It may involve very practical tools, clear steps towards a chosen goal; or the drawing out of one’s wisdom and gifts to bring joy, clarity, and ultimately transformation.

I was trained as a Functional Medicine Health Coach and have received National Board Certification, yet I also bring to the practice a larger set of skills from years of training in other mind/body disciplines, stress reduction techniques, and energy healing work. I now refer to my work as a Intuitive Healing Coaching because I believe what I do best is help people access and embody their natural healing wisdom and capabilities within.
